I bought these boots for my husband, as he owns a few Born shoes that he loves because of how comfortable they are. I wanted to give these boots a try and they didn’t fail me. He was pleasantly surprised and now he wears them all the time.
Additionally, I am glad I purchased them from Zappos as they also delivered a top-notch service!

The Hemlock is my second pair of Born shoes. I love this pair even better than my first. They’re amazingly comfortable–very supple and high quality upper leather with great stitching. The sole is sturdy, and the heel has a stacked hard leather insert like very expensive shoes. These are well worth the money, and I’d buy another pair in a heartbeat. I had originally purchased some Dr. Marten’s Rocco Chelsea boots, but these Hemlocks from Born are a lot more sophisticated looking while keeping the same casual feel.

Great boots! Leather is good quality, and they seem to be very well built. Break-in was minimal. Two days after I got the boots, I walked all over New York City in the aftermath of a snowstorm. My feet felt great and the boots held up to the elements very well.

I bought these boots about 1 year ago and am just now getting around to write a review. Pretty timely, huh? Nevertheless, these are terrific boots. They look great with jeans and chinos (Gavin fit from Banana Republic). They’re certainly not dress boots, they’re for casual attire as the black is more of a matte finish v. shine. For me the build quality has been everything I’ve expected from a Born shoe. They’re durable and very comfortable (although full disclosure, I wear them about 2-3 times a week and never two days in a row as I always rotate my shoes). Finally, mark my words that Born shoes run at least 1/2 size too big (i.e., I wear a 10.5 and I ordered a 10 and they fit perfectly). And, of course, is there any better company than Zappos? Hmmm…nope. Wear them in good health!

These were great, but the quality has diminished to unacceptable. I originally bought a pair of these a couple of years ago and loved them. I wore them almost every day for two years, and basically walked through the sole. I decided to buy the same style to replace my previous boots. The new boots arrived and were noticeably less substantial, e.g., the loops used to pull on the boots felt much thinner. Alas, I was proven correct. Within a few weeks, the loop broke. I called Zappos (excellent as always) and they sent me a replacement pair. The loop on these lasted almost a week before breaking, and has now come off altogether. Other parts of the boot are also failing. It’s a shame. Born either sent a bad lot to Zappos or their manufacturing has deteriorated. This went from a boot that took everything I gave it for two years, finally needing replacement because I walked through the soles, to a boot that couldn’t even make it a week! That’s weak. Attempts to contact Born directly have thus far met with silence. Zappos, as always, has been wonderful.

Usually wear 11.5 D, but the 11 D fits perfect. This is a very comfortable casual dress boot. It looks great with boot-cut jeans that have some bell to them. Arch support and padded insole feel great. No break in time required.

Incredibly comfortable boots, but they do run big. I made the mistake of only ordering them 1/2 size small, and had to exchange them. I normally wear a 12, but will be getting a size 11.

Great look and feel. Perfect for contractors like me who need a boot for jeans in the field and slacks in the office.
They could use a little more arch support and aren’t tight on the ankles, but nothing is perfect!

The picture makes these boots look a bit grey, but in person they are definitely much blacker. Also, the soles seem to slant a bit inside, but after putting in gel inserts, they feel extremely comfortable. I think these are some of the best boots I’ve ever worn. Comfortable and stylish for sure!

Right out of the box I had these on for 7 hours, they are very comfy, the leather is soft and they look great with a pair of faded levis. I have been looking for a pair of boots like these in for ages in women’s but a friend said try looking in men’s and there they were. The quality of construction of the boot is great and they aren’t bulky. A great little boot for causal wear.

Very nice styling and the great arch support I’ve come to love from Born. I usually wear a 10.5 but wound up getting a 10. I have narrow feet and these fit well. I wouldn’t recommend for someone with wide feet.

These shoes are absolutely wonderful. Everything you expect from the Born brand–comfort, simple design, and top notch workmanship for a reasonable price. The leather upper is extremely supple. There was virtually zero break-in time. They’re my favorite shoe to go with jeans and a button up shirt for a casual night out or a date with my wife. I wore a pair of Born shoes (sadly discontinued) through 5 year’s of college. I fully expect these Hemlock shoes to last just as long!

I purchased these boots about 9 months ago, and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. Order a full size smaller, and if you have high arches, get some inserts. They had almost 0 break-in time. I wear them everyday for work, they can dress up or dress down easily, and are just comfortable.

Very comfortable. But crap. They use tape around the boot heal platform and that fell off. Why for the love of all that is good and wonderful do we have to have shoes from a reputable company like Born do something so freaking cheap. I’ve been wearing for less than 3 weeks.

These are not ” work boots”. The sole wore out after 2 months. Bought these to replace my duluth trading company boots that I would get 2 years out of but they discontinued.

They look great. Rugged, but professional enough to wear in clinic/hospital as a physician (California). I also use them on my scooter to protect my ankles. As with basically every Born shoe/boot I’ve had, the style is great but the footbed is not supportive and does not absorb shock well. I use gel/foam inserts with all their shoes, and then they’re fine.

I’m not impressed with the quality of the shoe but is really comfortable, light, stylish and they true to fit, I’m 9 in boots and they usually a little bigger but this one is right in size, I hope they last because I like them a lot
